Every child’s strength, potential, interest, and culture form the foundation of our educational curriculum. Our approach to learning takes into account the cognitive and linguistic aspects of learning while also considering the physical, social, emotional, personal, spiritual, and creative, all of which are present in play. There is no “One Size Fits All” program, as every child is unique; they have their ways to learn, explore, express, interact, play or communicate. We value and respond the individuality of each child through tailored learning opportunities. Relationship is another primary component within Preschool. Each educator understands and emphasizes the secure, respectful, and reciprocal relationships with children. Working in partnership with families, recognizing the importance of the family in caring for and educating the child. Connecting with the community helps to broaden children’s lens and foster their sense of belonging. Every child’s right is maintained and respected in Preschool; we ensure equity for all children regardless of their abilities, cultural backgrounds, or genders. We respect the diversity and embrace the value in bringing together different perspectives. To optimize each child’s learning, educators engage children in a variety of learning approaches to achieve different outcomes. Play-based has taken a significant part of our learning; it is intentional, purposeful, educational, and enjoyable. Educators facilitate every child responsively by planning and implementing tailored learning experience for the children. The learning environment is created and established deliberately to enhance children’s learning. Educators are committed to a continuous cycle to observe, assess, plan, implement and reflect on each child’s learning outcome. Saint Maroun’s Preschool acknowledge the Gadigal people who share their lands with us. We pay our respects to the Elders both past and present.
Through this we are able to connect children with our centre through belonging, being and becoming.
