Our Community

At St Maroun’s Preschool, we embrace the value of the community. Actively engage with our community can enrich children’s learning and development. Here are some of the events we have done previously:

Father's Day 2023

Father's Day concert was a memorable and heartwarming event. We appreciated all the families who participated and left the kind words!

We look forward to more opportunities to come together and celebrate the achievements of our wonderful children.

Community Helper

We had the pleasure of inviting a road crossing supervisor of our school, allowing the children to gain valuable insights into her daily responsibilities and the important role she plays in our community. During the visit, the road crossing supervisor demonstrated her duties and shared what a typical day entails for her.

Global Mobile Dental Visit

We invited the Global Mobile Dental Clinics to visit our Preschool children as the extension of exploring our bodies and community helpers.

Some of the children did a check-up with the dentist and the dentist also reminded us the "Everyday Food" and "Sometimes Food", and the appropriate technique to brush our teeth.

Mother's Day

Preschool celebrated Mother's Day with all the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers in our community! We thanked our families for visiting us and spending time with the children. Seeing their eyes light up when they're with you brings us immense joy.

Naadam Festival

The Preschool children were invited to broaden their lens in cultural diversity. We invited the children to explore Naadam Festival, a Mongolian Event. They engaged in a variety of learning opportunities; for example,  Mongolian inspired hat craft experience by using open-ended resources, including shredded paper, pipe cleaners, beads, ribbons. Also, the group of children strengthened their fine motor movement through manipulating the playdoh and shaping the Yurt, the Mongolian Tent.

NAIDOC WEEK

Throughout the NAIDOC Week, the Preschool children engaged in a variety of play-based learning in regards to promoting their cultural awareness while exploring the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander's culture, including, Dreamtime stories, music, arts and symbols.

Police Visit

Preschool invited police officers to come visit the children. They shared the importance of road safety, as well as the ways to seek help!

We encourage children to become independent, and allow them to direct their own learning.

Through this we are able to connect children with our centre through belonging, being and becoming.
